Funds will help teachers and students replace classroom supplies lost in fire
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Business Alliance board of directors raised more than $25,000 for Portland’s Marysville Elementary School, which was devastated by a fire last week. The school, which reopened at Rose City Park this week, is in need of many basic supplies. The Alliance anticipates more funds to be donated by board member companies.
When the school opened its doors this week at Rose City Park, it was clear cash donations were needed to give school administrators and teachers the resources they need to create an inviting and educational environment for their students. The Alliance board quickly answered the call for funds raising $25,000 in 24 hours.
Other Alliance member companies like Nike and Powell’s Books quickly led the charge to help Marysville recover. Nike donated backpacks and coats for every student, duffel bags and classroom supplies for teachers, sports equipment, welcome banners, food for staff. Powell’s Books donated more than 1,000 books to the school.
The Alliance board encourages businesses and individuals to help Maryville Elementary by:
